A Home with History: Jennifer’s Legacy

Located in Northeast Houston (on a block where TRT has repaired six homes in a 500 yard radius over the past year), Jennifer’s house has stood as a testament to her strength and resilience for over 50 years. A 74-year-old widow, Jennifer raised her four children and welcomed nine grandchildren into the warm embrace of her home. Her dedication to her family and her long career in the healthcare industry has left an indelible mark on her community.

We first learned about Jennifer from her neighbor, whose home we had the privilege of repairing last winter. Deeply concerned for Jennifer’s safety, the neighbor referred her to us. Although Jennifer never asked for help, we knew it was our calling to step in and make her home a safer and more comfortable place to live.

A Volunteer-Powered Transformation

From Tattered to Transformed: A Dream Come True

The transformation of Jennifer’s house was truly awe-inspiring. The dedicated volunteers gave their all, working in the hot Texas sun for a wonderful woman.

Exterior siding replacement: The worn-out siding was replaced with fresh, durable shiplap, ensuring better protection against the elements and a barrier for critters.

Plumbing and Hot Water Heater: Jennifer’s original plumbing set-up had raw sewage dumping underneath her home, creating a major safety concern. We were able to upgrade her pipes and re-route her sewage into the city’s lines.

Foundation Repair: Our team expertly addressed foundation issues where a back corner of the home was falling in. We layed a solid groundwork for Jennifer’s home to stand tall for many more years to come.

New Front and Back Doors: Stylish and secure doors were installed, adding to the aesthetic appeal and safety of her home.

Exterior Paint: A fresh coat of paint breathed new life into the house, turning it into a beacon of hope on her street.

Kitchen Cabinets: The heart of the home, Jennifer’s kitchen, received a complete makeover with new cabinets and updated plumbing, creating a space where she could continue to create cherished memories with her family.

Kitchen Floors: With beautiful new kitchen floors, the heart of the home became a vibrant and welcoming space.

Bathroom Renovation: The bathroom was transformed with a new toilet and shower, providing Jennifer with a safer and more comfortable environment.
